He retired from the United States Postal Service in Schuylerville in 2010. Over the years, he had also been employed by the Battenkill Country Club, Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course, in winters at the Schuylerville school and Old Saratoga Bowl in Schuylerville.
Buck was a self-taught, talented musician and played in various local bands. He was an avid sports fan, especially following the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, and he also enjoyed bowling, golf, running and sitting down with a good book.
Survivors are his brothers and sisters, Michelle (Bob) Relyea of Whitehall, Pa., Lisa (Wayne) Higdon of Albany, Michael (Susie) Boivin of Castleton, Paul (Sally) Boivin of Schuylerville, Anne Dwyer of Poughkeepsie and Mary Alyce Evans of Saratoga Springs; an aunt, Rita Boivin of Schuylerville; nieces and nephews, Bobby, Tommy and Kelly Relyea, Scott and Kevin Higdon, Vincent (Erin) and Nik Boivin, Annie (Billy) Dwyer Internicola, Stacey Dwyer Todd, Shelly Dwyer and John D. Peter was a kind and generous friend for many years. His sweet cards, gifts of mix tapes, books, and other surprises from home brightened my life. Peter's friendship was very special to me and I will miss him dearly.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. From the time we were kids riding bikes on Pearl St., to graduating with him, to having my mail delivered-he has always been someone I have been happy to have as a friend. I will miss our talks and his smiling face. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Ann Peters Wright

I can think of no higher tribute to Buck than to say he was my friend. As I trace my memories, I cannot recall a time when I did not know Buck, nor can I remember a single instance when we shared cross words. No, Buck was a gentleman and a gentle man. His smile could light up a room and he was forever smiling. I will remember that happiness -- and I will hold it in my heart.

My heart felt sympathy goes out to the entire Boivin family. From my early years I remember Buck in Cub Scouts with my brother John and the ever present smile he donned. His dad Omar graduated a few years ahead of my mom at Cortland College and later was one of my baseball coaches, his aunt Rita was my third grade teacher, Buck, my friend, you'll be truly missed

My wife Kim and I offer our sincere sympathy at this difficult time. "Mailboy" was fun to bowl with and against. I know he loved his New York Giants and was so happy to see them win the Super Bowl. He will be missed.
