Died: July 1, 2022 in Clinton, IA
LARRY L. WIERSEMA, 71, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at Mercy One Medical Center in Clinton, IA.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison with Ken Renkes officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Larry was born August 6, 1950, in Morrison, IL, to Marvin and Florence (Boelkens) Wiersema. He was educated in the Nelson, IL grade schools and was a 1968 graduate of Rock Falls High School. Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Janice Louise Forth on October 26, 1974, in Morrison. He drove a feed truck for Wayne Feeds in Rock Falls while in high school and worked at the L and M Service Station in Morrison. He then owned and operated Wiersema Charter Service in Morrison. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the Morrison American Legion Post #328. Larry's greatest joy in life was driving bus and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; two sons, Eric (Lisa) Wiersema of Morrison and Gregg (Jackie) Wiersema of Chadwick, IL; four grandchildren, Hailey and Matthew Wiersema, Alicen and Cooper Wiersema; three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Nolan Richmond.

Jan and family I am so sorry to hear of Larry's death!!! He was a great guy and I have so many great memories!!!! He will be missed by many!!!!!

I remember well the bus trip to Washington D.C. with veterans and some spouses aboard. I helped navigate. We drove the first day to a city in Pennsylvania not far from D.C. Larry told eateries where bus drivers ate for free, that I was part of his crew! Thus I ate for free. We spent the night in this town.
Getting into D.C. was a bear!!! At one point the traffic was at a dead stop. I sat in the bus steps, perused the map, and fed Larry directions to bypass the stoppage.
I used my memory of a trip by an Honor Flight aircraft to D.C. and we viewed all of the same sights. Further, I used the same food source.
then it was back to the Pennsylvania town for the night. Next day, we went home.
Larry and I had a great relationship being veterans. He did everything in his power to assist Honor Flight and the veterans going on a flight from Whiteside County.
I shall miss the camaraderie
