Jonathan Heiden Obituary
Heiden
Jonathan Jay Heiden, born January 29, 1990 (age 30), passed away on October 28, 2020 in Florence, South Carolina. After attending Charlotte Country Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina and then West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, J.Jay graduated in 2008. He then attended East Carolina University. J.Jay married Taylor Bryson Heiden on September 6, 2014. Whether you know J.Jay as a lacrosse player, truck enthusiast, or for his love of animals, J.Jay was a free spirit and enjoyed life through each of its seasons. If you truly knew J.Jay, he was warm, affectionate and loved. In addition to his parents, Dr. Larry Heiden and Robin LaVecchia, J.Jay is survived by his wife, Taylor Bryson Heiden, and son Benjamin (Benji) Laurence Heiden (age 5). He is also survived by his siblings Richard LaVecchia IV, Lola LaVecchia, Dr. Marc Heiden (Sherry), Derek Heiden (Melissa), and Nicole Sodoma, along with several nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his wife's family, Leigh and Robby Bryson and his three sister- in-laws. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Benjamin Laurence Heiden Trust at South State Bank.

Dear Jay Jay,
While I never had the opportunity to meet you, I have heard many stories about your life and varied interests from your dear mother, who loved you with her whole heart, that I felt I knew you. As a result, I realized that we would, have been great friends as a result. Unfortunately, we never had that opportunity. I am a great lacrosse fan and my son played lacrosse at Country Day a few years ahead of you and we would have had lots in common. I'm so sorry we never had that opportunity. Robin loved you so much and I just hope you realized that throughout your short life.
May you rest in peace Jay Jay and we will pray for your sweet soul forever.

I was a friend of JJay’s at ECU through the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. JJay was a kind hearted person and was very passionate about his love for trucks and pitt bulls, especially his beloved Dozer. I was personally dismayed at learning the news of his untimely passing, and I have continued to pray for the Heiden family. It is my personal belief and hope in Christ that sustains me through the loss of such magnitude. To JJay’s family, I lost my younger brother when he was 16, and I know full well what the loss of a young family member feels like. Time will ultimately heal all things, but the road ahead will not be easy. Use this time to celebrate JJay’s memory and reflect on the good times you were able to share with him. And continue to share those memories with young Benji as he grows up. May God’s grace and peace be with you now and always.

New to the area, JJ was among the first people I met. He was a joy to meet and do business with. He spoke proudly of his grandmother, the 1st Grand Matron of the Eastern Star in SC. We connected and had great conversations. He sent photos of his trip to Colorado and even thru texts he was personable, nice, kind, friendly and all of the superlatives described here by others.
To his parents: The mourning of a Mother is the most grevious of earthly sorrows. My heart breaks for you both. Find solace in the fact that you raised a beautiful human. May the love and support of your family and friends cover you all.
