Wallace "Wally" J. Aldrich, 90

St. Cloud

June 17, 1922 - Dec. 30, 2012

Funeral services will be 1:00PM Tuesday January 1, 2013 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud for Wallace "Wally" J. Aldrich, 90, who died Sunday at the Legends of Heritage Place in Sartell. The Rev. Kris Anderson will officiate and burial will be on a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Wallace was born in Bemidji to Marion and Glendolia (Sprague) Aldrich. He met his future bride Lois Farstad working at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, the couple was married on November 13, 1947 in Hibbing. Wally and Lois recently celebrated 65 years of Marriage. He proudly served his country from November of 1942 to March of 1946 in the US Military during World War II and again from October 1950 to August of 1951 during the Korean Conflict. Wally worked at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud from 1946 until his retirement in 1980 as a nurse's aide. He worked part-time for the former St. Cloud Beauty College. Wally was a charter member and past president of the Eagles 622, Odd Fellows, VFW 428, and Secretary for NARF. He enjoyed copper tooling, feeding the squirrels, shoveling snow, and tending his garden for many years. Wally was always very affectionate and loving to all of his family.

Survivors include his children, Pam Zirbes, Cathy (Dan) Jenniges, Nancy (Steve) Wallace, Tom of St. Cloud; Becky (Dan) Rossow, Mike (Dawn) of Sauk Rapids; Bob (Mary) of Stillwater; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois on Dec. 3, 2012; son-in-law Bill Zirbes; great-granddaughter Tori Minars; and eight siblings.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Cloud Hospital Hospice.

A special thanks to the Legends of Heritage staff for the wonderful care given to Wally for the past year and a half; the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice who took care of Wally in the final weeks; and Williams Dingman Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
