Claire P. Kaplan

KAPLAN, Claire P. - Passed away August 26, 2005 in Chico, CA, at the age of 85. A daughter of Austrian immigrants Carl and Nettie Peckler, Claire was the first of her family born in the United States. Predeceased by her husband, Jack Kaplan; and son, Neil Kaplan; and by her sister, Mollie Goodman and brother, Howard Peckler; she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Kaplan; and by her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Ryan Kaplan. Claire, known to her family and friends as "Hikey," worked in her family's business over six decades, first at American Almond in Brooklyn, NY, and later at American Almond Orchards in California. She will be remembered by her friends and family on both coasts for her generous nature, as a wonderful hostess, a great baker and as a friend to all dogs and cats.
