Albert Silverio Obituary

Albert P. Silverio 1943 - 2017
Albert Primo Silverio, 73, of Jacksonville, Illinois died at his home Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
He was born on August 6, 1943 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Albert and Vera Datin Silverio. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ann Hoard of Jacksonville and daughter, Katherine Silverio of Edwardsville.
Albert grew up on his parents' and grandparents' farms in rural Albia. He attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City, where he received his bachelor's and master's degree in audiology. While working as a clinical audiologist at the University Hospital, he met Ann, an audiology intern in 1976.
Albert and Ann moved to Jacksonville in 1979, following his decision to establish an audiology practice. He owned and operated Audiologic Services on West State Street for approximately 30 years, working with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Albert and Ann were married in Jacksonville on August 14. 1981.
In 1983, Al and Ann purchased a farm in rural Virginia, Illinois. Al's life dream was to have his own country place. He traded motorcycles and dirt bikes for tractors, backhoes and chain saws. He cleared brush, cut hedge and built fence rows. He grew big gardens and raised red wattle hogs and katahdin sheep. He cherished showing and teaching Katherine the joy of country living.
Al was an avid reader throughout his life; once read, never forgotten. Recent years found him at the local library several times a week. He was an informal teacher of many subjects with great patience for showing someone how to use a hearing aid or target shoot. A prolific letter writer, he wove fact, fiction, advice and recipes into a neatly typed letter. IBM Selectrics cowered when they saw him coming.
Cremation has been accorded. A private celebration of his life will occur at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to Jacksonville Public Library, 201 West College Ave., Jacksonville, IL 62650 or Oxfam International, 226 Causeway St., Boston, MA 02114. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the Silverio family. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.buchanancody.com.

Not sure what to say?

December 23, 2017

My mom Fannie Silverio Ewing spoke of Albert often. She was Joseph Silverio's daughter. Even though I had never met Albert (but I did meet his dad) my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Fannie passed away May 1, 2017.
