Pedro Garcia Cedillo Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Mr. Pedro Garcia Cedillo, age 85, of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, he was the fifth child in a family of eight. He retired at the age of 69 as a construction painter contractor. He was a member of the Association of Construction Painters Contractors in Nuevo Laredo and served two terms as its treasurer. He played Double A baseball as a pitcher for the "Pintores de Berel" team, and liked fishing and hunting. He immigrated to Texas in 1988 and came to reside first in Laredo, then in Austin, and lately in San Marcos, Texas. "Don Pedrito", as he was tenderly called, was a cancer survivor. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Garcia and Lucrecia Cedillo; his beloved wife of 33 years, Maria del Socorro Ramirez de Garcia; his brother Jose Garcia; his sister Amalia G. de Reyna; his grandson Pedro Garcia; and, his great granddaughter Thalia Katherine Bernal. He is survived by his brother Manuel and his sisters Juana, Victoria, Maria de La Luz, and Maria de Los Angeles, all of Aguascalientes, Mexico; his eight children: Maria de Los Angeles and husband Edmundo Zepeda of Laredo; Maria del Socorro and husband Jose Silvestre Bernal of Austin; Maria Antonia and husband Eduardo de Jesus Aguilar of Austin; Rev. Pedro Garcia, Jr. of Wimberley; Jose Ernesto and wife Diana Maria Gonzalez of Austin; Sanjuana Lucrecia and husband Hector Carlos Collazo of New Braunfels; Maria Guadalupe and husband Carlos Javier Rendon of Laredo; Gabriela and husband Horacio Gerardo Cavazos of Laredo; grandchildren: Edmundo and wife Carmen, Julio Eduardo, Angel Ivan and wife Laura Alicia, Sylvester, Gustavo and wife Christy, Esteban, Patricia Maria, Edward Jesse, Sylvia Judith and husband Issac, Dulce Maria Guadalupe, Carlos Ernesto, Diana Laura, Jesus Alberto, Mark Alexander, Carlos Javier and wife Luisana, Alejandro Daniel, Jorge Alberto, and Karolina Lizette; great grandchildren: Angeles Roxana, Maryam, Myriam del Carmen, Leyra Ivonne, Yannis Ariel, Isabella Michelle, Andrew Austin, Sophia Socorro, Sabian Jose, Isaac Alexander, Thomas Daniel, Carlos Javier III, and Aaron. Following the long-standing tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, family, relatives and friends will gather to pray the Rosary on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Then, with praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for the gift of life everlasting, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wimberley with the Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, Bishop of Austin, presiding. Interment will be at the Jardin de Los Angeles Cemetery in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico after a special memorial Mass with family, relatives and friends.
