Mr. Lee was the best teacher I ever had. His ability to personalize American history was a thing of beauty and a true personal gift. I have an autographed copy of his history of Ethel, MO, and I will always cherish the memory of sitting under his fascinating teaching, his immense wit, and his genuine concern for his students. Few legacies are more profound than that of a respected, admired, and life-changing educator. His imprint is left on the lives of thousands.

As my teacher in 1968, Mr. Lee taught a requisite U.S. Government class for seniors at Lynwood High School - Lynwood, Calif. He was one of the most well-respected teachers on campus, if not the most respected above all. His teaching competency was unparalleled, aided by his somewhat folksy midwest charm in a most genuine, endearing fashion. Reading about his background on this Legacy site only confirms what all his students knew: Mr. Lee was destined to be a great teacher, and he fulfilled that destiny by leaving decades of teaching excellence in the hearts and minds of every student that ever took a seat in his classroom.

Remembering your kindness always when I visited you, Jack, in Ethel and you shared the stories of my Mason and Robison family lines.

I drove from Douglas County, Colorado, to Ethel, Missouri, in the summer of 2000, to learn from this great historian about the towns of Ethel and Goldsberry and my Mason and Robison families. He graciously met me for breakfast and spent most of the day sharing stories of the area and the pioneers who settled there. I will forever be grateful for his kindness to me and his love of Macon County and its people. I remain in his debt. My prayers and thoughts to his family whom he loved more than anything - even history.

I drove from Indiana and spent all day with Jack on Dec 27, 2013. We became friends back in the 1980's when I was in medical school in Kirksville. We both collected political memorabilia. He proudly showed me his Vietnam chapel memorial. I cherish our last meals we enjoyed together at the Chinese restaurant in Macon and later that evening at the Santa Fe in Ethel. Our last discussion was one of speaking of Christ.

Mr. Lee had a way to capture your attention and keep it. He taught in a way that made you want to keep learning. I still remember things he taught all these years later. Thanks Mr. Lee! Class of 1982

I taught across the hall from Warren. Not only was he a skilled teacher, but also had a great sense of humor. I loved to ask him if he had an article in the bottom drawer of his desk.....one never knew! Then there were the Mexican..he could really put away the HOT salsa!

Mr. Lee, I remember you as a gentle man who stepped out of time to teach us about our history. Your patience, dignity, and your respect for learning and for your students was appreciated by all at our school for so many years. You live on in our memories. - The PHS Class of 1976

Mr. Lee was my teacher at Pattonville High School in 1981 - 1983. He was one of the most talented teachers I ever had, at any level of education -- and that's saying a lot because after high school, I went on to get a B.A., M.A. and J.D. He was also just such a kind and fun person. He seemed to have a perpetual twinkle in his eye and his willingness to share his personal hobbies and interests with the class made him a human being, not just a wonderful teacher. I have wondered about him many times over the years since high school, hoping always that he was well. I am very sad to hear of his passing. I hope he knew how much he meant to his students at PHS.

Dear Deanna, David & Donna,
My deepest sympathy to all of you and your families at the passing of your Uncle Jack. I remember him coming to our Brownie Camp and taking pictures. He was quite the guy.
May your memories live forever.
Love, Roxie

I met Jack in 2013 when we held our White family reunion in Macon. He was easy going, but was a great resource about our family and the county. All of us will miss Jack.
