J. ROBERT MALONE Mr. J. Robert Malone, 87, died July 8, 2012 at his home in Vero Beach. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Malone attended West Catholic High School for Boys, Villanova University, and the Harvard Business School, where he received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Mr. Malone received his license as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1947, Mr. Malone joined Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., later KPMG, where he served as the Managing Partner of the Rochester, New York, and Cleveland, Ohio offices before returning to his native Philadelphia to manage the firm's office there. Throughout his career, Mr. Malone was active in professional and civic organizations including the Civic Music Association of Rochester, Chairman of the Board of the Trustees Catholic Family Center of Rochester, Member of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, the Board of Overseers for the Dental School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Upon retiring in 1983, Mr. Malone divided his time between Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and Vero Beach, Florida while continuing to be active in various capacities including service on the Board of the John's Island Property Owner's Association and the Board of General Accident Insurance. An avid golfer, Mr. Malone was a member of Philadelphia Country Club and a former member of the John's Island Club, and of the Bent Pine Golf Club. Active in various Catholic charitable organizations, Mr. Malone was invested as a Knight of Malta in 1979. At his death, he was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years Margaret Grant Malone of Vero Beach; his daughter, Margaret Ann Malone of Columbus, Ohio; his son and daughter-in-law, James Robert Malone, Jr.and Anne P. Malone of Ambler, Pennsylvania; his brother, Msgr. Richard Kevin Malone of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and two grandchildren, Scott J. Malone, and Tara A. Malone. Mr. Malone was predeceased by his brother, John L. Malone, and his sister, Ritanne M. Devine. Memorial contributions may be made to Order of Malta, American Association, P.O. Box 10023, Uniondale, NY 11555- 0023. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m, July 24, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. In addition, a Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach later in the fall.
