John Torres Obituary
DONNA - John David Torres Jr., 24, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Mission Regional Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1984 in Weslaco, Texas to John David Torres and Elida De Leon. He is survived by his parents; 2 sisters, Kristen Bland of Memphis, TN and Lisa McCandless of Weslaco, TX; paternal grandparents, Balde and Virginia Soto of Corpus Christi, TX; maternal grandparents, Jesus and Julia De Leon of Donna, TX; also surviving are 2 nieces; 1 nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at First Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Steven Parker. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Michael Flores, Richard Flores, Eric De Leon, Jason Bland, Joshua McCandless, Mikey Flores. John loved golf and would challenge anyone at the golf course. He worked as a restaurant server and always tried to make his customers feel special. He had a loving heart for everyone especially the Lord. He was a caring son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, especially his smile and warm heart that made us feel loved. My dear son, I won't say goodbye, only I will see you in heaven. Our family would like to thank everyone who came to remember John and comfort us in our time of grief. We would like to express a special thank you to Jim Olivenbaum, Dr. Michael Flores and his wife, Melissa, First Baptist Church of Weslaco, The Milano family and Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco for embracing us and extending their kindness. Arrangements were under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, Inc.

I still remember when I met John at the fitness center. He was young and full of energy. GREAT KID! Once in high school he would stop by and visit my classroom, a wonderful student and will be remembered. God Bless.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I knew him for only a short time I grew to care for him so much. Now he is in heaven and in peace.

To John's family, I'm truly sorry for your loss. Just today I found out about the tragedy. I thank the lord for giving me the opportunity to had met John at STVT. He was the sweetest person I had ever met and was glad we both attended the same church, I still can't believe this. But John I'll miss you very much. I had the hope to see you at church soon.
