Marvin Warriner Obituary

Marvin Warriner

November 21, 1930 - March 1, 2025

Marvin "Sonny" Warriner Jr. passed away on March 1, 2025, at the young age of 94. Born to Marvin Warriner Sr. and Ollie M. Warriner on November 21, 1930, Sonny lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jean P. Warriner, and is survived by his sister, Norma W. Schott; children, Lewis (Donita) Miles and Bryan (Mary) Warriner; grandchildren, Jeff Miles, Jennifer (Sean) Pearce, and Lizzie (Henry) Scott; and great-grandchildren, Will Miles, Walker Miles, and Cece Scott. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished him as "Pop." A Benedictine graduate, Sonny proudly served in the Navy as an electronics specialist aboard a minesweeper, later building a respected 38-year career at AT&T. In retirement, he and Jean found great joy and laughter on the Rappahannock River, where they became part of a close-knit community at Grey's Point and Sturgeon's Creek. Pop's greatest joy in his later years was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved hearing their stories and sharing his own legendary Navy and AT&T tales. The family is grateful to the doctors and nurses in the CCU at Memorial Regional, Liz White (caregiver), the dedicated Fire/EMS teams at Station 7 in Mechanicsville, and the kind neighbors who lovingly kept watch over Pop. True to his nature, Sonny remained fiercely independent, proudly living in the same home in Mechanicsville for 62 years until his passing. Sonny Warriner was a man of great integrity, humor, and kindness. His presence brought light and laughter to those around him, and his legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Services will be held ...... Rest easy, Pop. Your stories, your laughter, and your love will forever echo in our hearts.

A graveside service for Marvin will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 6289 McClellan Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
