Dian M. Burick walked peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 10, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late James and Stella (Jakubonis) Cosgrove.
To know Dian was to truly love and be loved by her. She embodied all the goodness and kindness of a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Dian was ferocious in the ways she loved her people. From biggest cheerleader to loudest advocate, if you were blessed to be on the receiving end of her love, you knew the depths of her adoration in the actions she displayed. She was generous with hugs, belly laughs, compliments, and anything she could offer you to make life easier or more enjoyable. Queen of gatherings, Dian opened her doors to celebrate often — birthdays, weddings, holidays. Her confidence commanded a room easily because she exuded the strength of a true matriarch. She was a second mother to many and opened her arms to those who sought comfort and safety.
Dian was a devoted follower of Jesus; she leaned heavily on her faith through life's challenges and showed compassion to the sick and suffering by sharing her presence and support. To Dian, you belonged and you mattered. She was real and raw, honest and forthcoming with her opinions and feelings, playful and inspiring, strong in her convictions and faith. Dian embodied being a mother and grandmother; there was no greater joy than living life alongside them. They were the inspiration and source of her strength and grace, even in the moment God called her home. May her legacy of loving abundantly and being of service to others carry on for eternity.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her brother, Patrick Cosgrove; and sisters Rosemarie Ofiesh and Dolores Olshefski.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Adam Burick; children, Michael Burick and wife Tracy, Mountain Top, Kristin Skiados and husband Michael, Maryland, and Jennifer Kleinhenz and husband Ken, Ohio; stepson, Adam Burick and wife Theresa, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Addison Burick, Philip "Tyler" Guzzi, Ava and Nathan Skiados, Aaron, Daniel and William Kleinhenz, Ryan and Matthew Burick; brothers, James Cosgrove and wife Constance, South Carolina, and Richard Cosgrove and wife Sandra, Virginia; stepbrother, Robert Nekrasz, New Jersey; 28 nieces and nephews, along with 47 great-nieces and -nephews, whom she greatly adored, also survive.
She is also survived by her dearest friend of 64 years, Kate Hoinski. Her other lifelong friends include Donna Engle, Elizabeth Gobla, Jodi Tranguch, Sharon Archer Draught, and so many others.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call on Friday afternoon and evening from 4-8 p.m. at St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. McCune Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.
Our family would like to thank the nursing staff and medical team at Geisinger Hospital. Dr. Naik, Dr. Patel, Alex, Jasely, Colleen, Anisha, and Julie, your loving and healing hands brought tremendous comfort and kindness to our family. May each of you receive abundant blessings as you continue to care for others.
In lieu of flowers, Dian has asked that donations be made in her name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre, or St. Jude Elementary School in Mountain Top.

In the short acquaintance I made with Dian, I walked away feeling as if I were the only one of importance in a room of 300. Later, I was asked if I had met her. The person asking had that same sensation. Dian had acgift of love and compassion rarely exhibited by others. I sense that she has passed this to her daughter Jenn. She will live on in the lives she has touched. Listen more. Love more. Let the little things stay amall. Rest in peace beautiful lady.
