Frances Pruitt Obituary

PRUITT After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Frances Pruitt, 79 passed away July 28, 2003. Mrs. Pruitt was born April 16, 1924 in Orangeburg, SC and moved to Jacksonville in 1960 where she spent more than 30 happy years with her husband, Gordon Pruitt, who predeceased her. The Pruitts were prominent in the used car business during the 70s and 80s at which time they embarked on a new venture in the development of English Mountain Retreat in Sevierville, TN. With Frances passion coupled with Gordons vision, they established a place of enjoyment for many while affording her some of her happiest years. Mrs. Pruitt, a graduate of Winthrope College, enjoyed a career in education and taught for many years at Hogan Spring GlenElementary. Frances spent the last 7 months at the Hadlow Center on Sunbeam Rd. during which time she initiated the 1st Annual Frances Pruitt Easter Egg Hunt and where she touched many hearts and was surrounded by many loving caregivers for which her family will always be grateful. Mrs. Pruitt is survived by her daughter, Scyles Bush, her husband, Paul, and their children, Amy Stevens, Julie Shaver, Ian Bush and Jared Bush all of Jacksonville, FL., her stepdau ghters, Sheri Adams and her children, Clay and Adrianne all of Ft. Worth, TX and Lacey Thomas and her children, Shae and Stacey of New York, her stepson, Fred Pruitt, his wife, Debbie and their daughter, DeeDee Raulerson all of Jacksonville, FL and 8 great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Pruitt will he held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 31, 2003 in the chapel of HARDAGE -GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach with Chaplain Jess McCrosky officiating. Interment will be in H. Warren Smith Cemetery. Donations in her name can be made to Northeast Florida Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
