Bonnie Bone Obituary

BONE

Bonnie M. (Miller)

Bonnie went home to be with the lord on September 29, 2015, after a courageous 9 month battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Bonnie was born January 9, 1948, to the late Ralph and Rita (Gerten) Miller, growing up in Blissfield, MI. She married Gary Bone on January 27, 1975, blending their two families into one. After working for several trucking companies throughout her life, she retired from MTS Transportation on January 29, 2010, only to return part time. She was a volunteer at Mercy St. Anne Hospital and an all around amazing woman. She enjoyed gardening, bowling with the Alley Katz (now B's Girls), sewing, knitting baby blankets, crocheting, and taking rides in the Mustang but most of all her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Gary; daughters, Deserae Lukowski of Dublin, OH, Rebecca of Toledo, Michele (Brad Szutienko) Fry and Karen (Rob) Hall of Sylvania; son, Jon; stepmother, I. Betty Miller of Sylvania; siblings, Lt. Col. Thomas (Kimberly) Miller USMC (ret.) of San Clemente, CA, LeaAnn (Bruce) Coldren of West Bloomfield, MI, Mary Sue (David) Townsend of El Cajon, CA, Ronald (Jennifer) Miller of East China, MI, Jim (Mary) Karl of Temperance, MI, Deb (Tim) Karl-DeFrain of Maumee, Kathy (Luis) Nunez of Chula Vista, CA; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Altenburger, Nicole (Kyle Straube) Fry, Courtney and Alyssa Gleckler; great-grandchildren, Owen Hixson and Peyton Altenburger; sister-in-law, Barbara (Glen) Christoff of Commerce Twp, MI; plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Malcolm and Ruth Bone and special mom and dad, Malcolm and Estella Lukowski.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. in Toledo, with Rosary Prayers at 7 p.m. Friends may also visit after 9 a.m. on Friday, October 2 at Christ the King Church where the Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 10 a.m.. Interment will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Mohammad Al-Nsour, M.D., FACP, Dr. Candilee Butler, M.D. FACS and the staff at Mercy St. Anne for your hard work and dedication during Bonnie's treatment. I met Bonnie in late Spring of this year. It was evident that she was loved and cherished by her husband and children. They were by her side every step of the way no matter how difficult it became. She referred to herself as the "Energizer Bunny" and in better times l am sure that was who she was. She touched my heart in the short time I knew her and she will be missed, but not forgotten.

I went to school in Blissfield with Bonnie, I have very fond memories of her great sense of humor and fun. Bonnie was kind and would help when anyone needed help. I really appreciated her, she was in my thoughts all through the years after school. From time to time I would see her at the gas station or the store and we would talk a few minutes and I always got the feeling she was very comfortable with her life, very happy. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.

Bonnie has been a light in our life since we were lucky enough to move in next door. She's blessed our children and our puppy with kind words, treats and an obvious love for our family. We will all miss her terribly. Our condolences to the many people who Bonnie has supported and served through her volunteer work and in faith. She was one of a kind. Our hearts are with Gary and the family. Their courage and support over the last 9 months has been awe inspiring.

Bonnie was such a wonderful lady with a generous heart. She volunteered countless hours at Mercy St. Anne, not only each week for her shift but also filling in for others. We were very blessed to have her on our volunteer team and we miss her greatly. Thank you Lord for your gift of Bonnie.
