I'm sorry that I am just reading this. Chet, was quite a guy! He was a sharp dresser, was smart, and took interest in what you had to say. He was a great conversationalist and was a great host along with his wife Agnes. Although I did not spend a lot of time around Chet, the world will miss him in a major way.

My prayers and condolences go out to Agnes, John and their family. Chet was a wonderful conversationalist and teller of human stories. He brightened many exchanges with his humor and insight, love of family, knowledge of popular (1950's era) music, devotion to running, and insight into local area history (including tasty restaurants). May his memory be a blessing.

Mr. Barnes was my 6th grade teacher at Crossgates. He was always my favorite teacher of all time. He was full of interesting stories of experiences during his life when he was in the Army. He was friends with Elvis Presley. He told many stories of that. As a teacher, he shared stories about his love for his wife and children. He was the best teacher, and the best role model a child could have. I'll never forget when he took the time to attend my High School graduation party as a surprise guest. Later in life, he also attended my wedding & reception. He & Agnes gifted my wife and I with a beautiful picture that Agnes created. That picture hangs in my home today. I look at it everyday, and it means a lot to me.
Thank you Mr. Barnes for being such an amazing teacher, role model, and friend over the years. I know that he is reunited with Beth Ann after all these years. I love you, and appreciate you Mr. Barnes. Rest in Peace.
May his family take comfort that he is now with our Lord, and with Beth Ann after 41 years. God Bless your Family.
