Edward Lishewski Obituary

LISHEWSKI Edward Joseph Edward Joseph Lishewski, was born on July 5, 1922, at Shamokin, Coal Run Pennsylvania, to the parents, Louis and Josephine Lishewski. Edward volunteered for the service with the army at the early age of seventeen. He served in the South Pacific, New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. After discharge from the army as a sergeant, he took advantage of the G.I. Bill and received a BCS and MCS from Ben Franklin University and George Washington University, majoring in accounting and tax. After schooling, Ed went to work with a small CPA firm in Washington D.C. He then moved on to the Mexican Gulf Sulpher Springs Company as assistant treasurer. Mexican Gulf was an international company that opened up the sulpher industry in Mexico. Eventually, Mexican Gulf was bought out. Edward then moved to Washington D.C. and joined Moore Carrier Company as controller, which was an automotive manage firm that managed fifty plus dealerships up and down the east coast. In 1951, Ed was transferred to Toledo, Ohio, with the same firm. Ed worked at Moore Ford Sales from January 1957 through August 1973. In 1973, Ed went to work for Grogan Chrysler Plymouth, as treasurer until retirement, June 30, 2006. While at Grogan, Ed and two other partners purchased Charlie's Dodge from Chrysler. While at Grogan's, Ed overlooked the financial part of Charlie's business for more than 25 years until retirement. Edward is survived by his lovely spouse of 55 years, Elizabeth Marguerite and their six children, Marc, (Elizabeth, Marc, Mathew), Louis Michael (Nicholas, Michael), Forrest, (Blaize, Samuel, Isabelle), Mary Patricia, Jennifer, (Joey, Francesca), Richard; sisters, Angeline, Florence, Rose, Eleanor, Patricia, Mary. Edward was a devoted member of Christ the King Parish, the Knights of Columbus Lodge 3122 and the AARP. Ed was also a strong supporter of St. Francis DeSales High School, Notre Dame Academy, the Little Sisters of the Poor and numerous other charities. In the fall, Ed's passion for Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State football allowed for enjoyment throughout the season. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m., Sunday, at the J. Jeffrey Fretti Funeral Home (at Corey Rd.) 419-843-1117. Memorial services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church with Father Ron Olszewski celebrating. Family request any donations be made to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
