Edward Guest Obituary

Edward A. Guest, 89, of Scottdale, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021. He was born April 24, 1932, in Scottdale, a son of the late Sidney and Ina (Hixson) Guest. Early in his career, Ed had been employed by Bell Telephone Co. He was later employed by Gamewell, and also ran his own business under the name Signatronics. He was a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1950, and a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale. He was a member of Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department Company 3 and was currently the oldest member and held the longest tenure within the department. He also served as former chief. Ed was a talented musician and organist, having performed at many parties, weddings and other occasions. Following retirement, Ed remained active by working at Brilhart Hardware, woodworking, and for a number of years, operated the sound system for the Scottdale Fall Festival. He is survived by his loving family, which includes his devoted wife, Roberta "Bobbi" (Stemmler) Guest; his caring children, Edgar A. Guest and his wife, Debby, Douglas S. Guest and his wife, Donna and Brenda E. Johnson and her husband, Paul; two stepchildren, Kirk T. Snee (Carol) and Lori A. Jarosz (James); seven grandchildren, Lee Ann, Ben, Tara, Lindsey, Dana, Mark and Tasha; two stepgrandchildren, Kassie and Todd; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor (Steele) Guest; and his siblings, Sidney, Donald and David Guest, Evelyn Farmer and Thelma Slaughter. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Additional visitation will be held from 10:30 until 11 a.m. Friday, at which time his funeral service will take place at Christ United Methodist Church, 201 Market St., Scottdale, with Pastor Kathy Barnhart and Pastor Tom Shirer officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville. The Scottdale VFD will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 73, Scottdale. Online condolences are welcome at www.gjfuneral.com.

To Bobbi and Family
I was saddened to hear of Ed's passing. He was a talented musician and did lovely wood carvings.
I enjoyed knowing him and Bobbi and will remember all of the good times we had in Florida.
