Joyce Kuhns

1943 - 2022

Joyce Troy Kuhns, 78, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, in the caring comforting arms of her sister, Karol Hartman, in their Greensburg home. She was born May 7, 1943, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late James H. and Frances Colligan Troy. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg. Joyce was very busy after high school. She worked at a Connecticut tobacco farm, car hopped at Carlson's, was in retail sales, worked for Bell Telephone and worked for Celestine Prophecy in Alabama. She had a Bachelor of Science in english at Montevallo College. She then was a substitute teacher and worked at a middle school library. She loved music and loved to read. She joined the community and church choirs, Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary in Alabama. She was also part of the GFVD Hose Co. No. 8 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved all the cats and dogs she adopted. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Kuhns II, in 1998; her son, Edward J. "Teddy" Kuhns III, in 2020; and a brother, David Earl Troy. In addition to Karol, Joyce is survived by a sister, Jean Ann Christopherson Steiner, of Florida, living with her daughter-in-law, Desiree, and family in Florida; a very special cousin, William "Sonny" (Lois) Colligan and their children, Patricia Jones, of Pittsburgh, Paul (Cindy) Colligan, of Greensburg, Barb (John) Flack, of Latrobe, and Donna (George) Caldwell, of Greensburg. Joyce also leaves behind her husband's family, Dave (Ruth) Kuhns, of Maryland, Donald Kuhns, of Greensburg, and William, Mary, Francis, Rebecca and Ron. She also leaves behind the Campolongo family, wonderful friends and neighbors, and the "Happy Hour Girls" - you know who you are. Family and friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg.
