DAVID JOHNSON Obituary

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

A loving husband, father, son and true friend, Dave Johnson was loved by many. It's hard to believe he has passed at the young age of 52. He was proud of the fact that he was born at Kennewick General Hospital on November 9, 1957, and died in the same hospital on April 2, 2010. He graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1976 with honors and completed his Bachelor's of Pharmacy at Washington State University in 1982. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Jo Bowlin, and moved to Elk, WA, where they lived for 20 years and started their family. He owned and operated Deer Park Pharmacy for 11 years. Dave was president of Deer Park Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of Winterfest in Deer Park for many years. They loved the Tri-Cities so much, they returned with their beautiful children, Kyle and Kelsey, in 2003. He joked with his children and many others that he was the 'Original Kennewick Man.'

Dave caught the travel bug from his wife, and enjoyed many fishing trips to Alaska. He was dedicated to his son's Cub and Boy Scout troops. Dave shared his favorite fishing hole with his friends, loved camping, science fiction, Star Trek, the Beatles, and really bad jokes. He wasted much time playing chess and pinochle in school and money playing weird poker with his friends. Very loyal to his family and friends, and when they gathered together, a delicious breakfast was guaranteed.

He is also survived by his mother, Ede; brothers Gary (Diane) of Spangle, WA; Mick (Kelly) of Lynnwood, WA; Brad (Denise) of Rathdrum, ID; sister, Tana Robbins, of Kennewick, WA; aunts, Mabel Hodgson of Kennewick, WA; Geneva Christiansen of Petersburg, AK; and Eadie Johnson of Tacoma, WA; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who all loved him. He is meeting up with his dad, Walter, and aunt Francis Patterson of Spokane, WA, who went before him.

His family will miss him terribly.

They invite those who knew Dave to say farewell at his memorial on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Kennewick First Presbyterian Church, 2001 W. Kennewick Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his honor to the Planetary Society founded by his hero, Carl Sagan at https://planetary.org/ special/inmemory.html.

The family invites you to sign their online guestbook at www.muellersfuneralhomes.com.

Dave will surely be missed by all who knew him. What's not mentioned is that Dave was named the 2009 Rookie of the Year by the Sand and Sage Sports Car Club. He was a great competitor and we'll miss his smilin' face at our events.
