I just received an e-mail from Phyllis Riedler about Howard's passing. I ran Phyllis' Mpls. campaign for the MN House, with help from Howard. We will all miss him.

Dear Jerry and Family,
There are so many memories, laughter, victories, a few tears and lots of genuine affection when I think of the Knutson family. I treasure the time I shared as Howard's campaign worker, but more importantly I treasure the friendship that I shared with all of you.
I will miss him and I send all of you my love and prayers.

I was so sad to read about Howard's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences ~ you have been in my thoughts and prayers this week. I truly enjoyed working with Howard at Ebenezer. He always had a great smile for us. He will be missed. I wish you and your family the gift of many happy memories.

I didn't know your father personally, but I remember him visiting our home in Burnsville to meet with my parents, Clarence and Helen Swanson to discuss the political landscape.
My parents often spoke of your father and the respect they had for him.

I am very sorry to hear the news about your husband and father. I remember him from my childhood as a warm, gracious and thoughtful man. Our world would be a better place if there were more like him in it. Now that you are adults, some of you with children of your own, I suspect that is the case.

The Knutson family
The last time I saw Howard was when he was waiting for his cancer treatment. It is thetime I served on a committee before the 1976 Republican convention that brings happy memories!
He was indeed a kind person.

Dear Mrs. Knutson and family,
We are sad to hear of the loss of your dear husband, father, and grandfather.
We are very aware of the happy memories and love and hospitality that preceded us here in this wonderful home. You are remembered with such fondness by your old neighbors in River Hills, and we know that Mr. Knutson's kindness and integrity was an important reason for that.

Dear Jerry and family,
We we were saddened to hear of Howards passing. It is comforting to know he was at peace and had the support of a wonderful family.
The flood of memories from all the years of being back door neighbors is very bitter sweet.
Howard was just a nice guy, nothing more nothing less and everyone was his friend.

It was with sadness that I read of Howard's passing. His dedication to public service and his high moral standard was the basis for his productive career.

In 1971 Senator Knutson spoke at my Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Later he hosted me for a day at the Capitol that I recall vividly as one of the high points of my teenage years. His attention that day left me with a lifelong interest in politics. I'm certain that countless other lives have been similarly touched by this gentleman who devoted his life to public service.
I was very sorry to learn of his passing. My deepest sympathy to his family, friends and others who were touched positively over the years.

Dear Gerry, Dave, Doug, Eric, Amy and Annette:
We extend to you our deepest sympathy on your loss of Howard. When I think of Him I always remember the time, as our company attorney, my partner & I invited Howard on a Canadian fishing trip on the Winnepeg River. On that trip we learned a number of things about Howard:
1. He was not a fisherman.
2. He loved a good cigar.
3. He was recognised and visited with a Crown Attorny (a friend of mine) who visited the lake while we were there.
(That's International recognition!)
4.Howard personally knew Swen & Lena through counseling!!
On the serious side, one of Howards many achievments was the early aquisition of Fairview Hospitals to the Burnsville area.
Howard was one of a kind and we thank the Lord for our having known him.
