URBANA - Leah Helen Rader, 102, of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Vancrest of Urbana Nursing Home.
Helen was born September 14, 1919 in Terre Haute, Ohio the daughter of the late Wilbur and Addie (Neese) Rhodes. She married the love of her life, Merle Rader, on July 25, 1945 in Terre Haute. Prior to Merle's passing in 1996, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Helen was a lifelong member of Terre Haute United Methodist Church for 88 years. There, she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. Helen enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and playing Scrabble. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Rebecca (Lamar) Emory, Karen Rader and Kenneth (Vickie) Rader; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karina) Emory, Phillip (Athina) Emory, Mark Emory and Joshua (Dawn) Rader; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Rader; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m-noon on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 in the Terre Haute United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at noon in the church home with Pastor Frank Kampel officiating.
Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute United Methodist Church, 5939 State Route 55, Urbana, Ohio 43078 or to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420,
