David Hopkins Obituary

David Woelk Hopkins

David Woelk Hopkins, 79 passed away peacefully in his sleep, January 17, 2021. Born July 13, 1941, in Santa Barbara, CA. to Paul Eugene and Marion Woelk Hopkins. When attending Orange Coast Jr. College, in Costa Mesa, CA. he met and courted Patricia Marie Wilhite. After graduating CSU Fullerton, they were married in May, 1966 in Newport Beach, CA. He worked for RC Cola in downtown Los Angeles for over 16 years before moving his family to Ventura, CA., to work for Ventura Coastal Corporation as their maintenance planner/scheduler for the fruit juicing machines. In 1995 he went to work for Meiners Oaks Hardware as the special orders department. Due to health reasons, he retired in the spring of 2020, but would have continued forever if he could have. He treasured the friendships he had with his co-workers (especially Pete) the owners (Betty, Matt and Mike) and all his customers! He considered them his 2nd family.

He was a member of Lodge 214 of the Free and Accepted Masons and all its concordant organizations. He assumed major leadership positions and carried out each role with the utmost passion. In his spare time, he was an avid reader of Sci-Fi and Mysteries and while at CSU-Fullerton, Dave belonged to and was active in Phi Kappa Tau, Gamma Omicron Chapter fraternity where he made many wonderful long-term friendships.

His family was the core of his life and he loved being a gramps, grandpa, gram papa, dad, and husband. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat, his daughter Elisa (Greg) Fogle; son Jon (Sheryl); grandchildren; Andrew (Carmen) Lee; Blake and Allyson Hopkins; Jacob and Nathan Fogle and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Jaxxon Lee and brother-in-law Robert Wilhite (Carlotta). Additionally, he leaves many dear friends and acquaintances . He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James P. Hopkins. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful services provided by The Buena Vista Hospice and The Neptune Society of Santa Barbara. We, as a family, have decided not to have a service at this time, but plan to have a Celebration of David's life in the future.
