James Espinoza Obituary

James "Jimmy" Espinoza

Oxnard, CA

Rarely in life do we come across a man who possessed what Acts 13:22 describes in King David as 'a man after God's own heart' and who was seen as an example to follow. We have been privileged and blessed to witness this first hand in our beloved Dad, Husband, Tata, and friend. James "Jimmy" Espinoza returned home on September 8, 2016 to our Heavenly Father's embrace and to His spoken words of "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful. Enter into the joy of your Master."

Born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on June 26, 1946, Jimmy moved to Ventura County at the age of 7 and later attended Oxnard High School. He went on to proudly serve in the US Army attached to the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was at this time in his life, in 1967, that he met the love of his life, Magdalena. If you asked him, this was his greatest accomplishment.

Preceded in death are his mother, father, and brother Daniel Espinoza. He and his wife Magdalena Espinoza enjoyed 47 years together and along the way raised five children: Claudia Isaia (her husband Sione Isaia, three children Johnny, Leanna and Bobby) Jaime Espinoza (his daughter Aria Rayn). Elizabeth Mejia (husband Hector Mejia, five children Sarah, Hector, Viviana, Jimmy and Jacob). Sergio Espinoza (wife Diana Espinoza, five children Steven, Christopher, David, Sarina and Brianna). Sonia De La Rosa (husband Allan De La Rosa and daughter Juliana Amelia De La Rosa). He has fifteen grandchildren, two brothers - Cruz and Miguel Espinoza, and two sister - Socorro Ovalle and Victoria Franco.

In closing, we lift our voices united as a family to you, Dad. We want you to know that we love you. We are proud of not only the courage you fought with but also the example of a man you so effortlessly displayed by your strength, unpatrolled sensitivity, loyalty and support for us even when we didn't deserve it. Now we envision you fishing or playing softball in Heaven enjoying your favorite hobbies. Because of the love you had for all of us unconditionally, we will wear this scar and void of your loss with pride and will make you proud that your prayers were never in vain. Rest in Peace "Big Kahuna", "Big Taters", "Big Guy", and of course Mom's "Honey Bunny", "Corazon", and "Mi Vida." We love you from here to Heaven!

Visitation will be held from 4:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard. My heartfelt condolences to Jimmy's family. For those of us who were blessed to have been affiliated with Bishop/Father Madera's Apostleship of the Cross teen group at Guadalupe Church, we became like one big family. I'll never forget Jimmy's smile and warm personality. He was like a big brother to me.
May his soul rest in peace,
