I was Ann's first employee in Washington in the 1980s. She had vision and a goal to bring NPM museum collections up to standards and she accomplished it.

Ann Hitchcock hired me for one of my first paid museum internships as I worked my way through grad school. That opportunity and her kind references lead to so many others and ultimately 21 years now as a (still) proud civil servant. I wish I could or would have thanked her in person again for that early support. Please know that her mentorship and leadership in the field is much appreciated.

I am sad that Ann has passed away. She was a joy to work with at Interior on natural and cultural resource protection, preparedness, response and recovery for national disasters and other emergencies. Her deep professional dedication was widely admired. My condolences to her family and friends.

Ann was one of the first museum professionals I worked for at the Museum of Northern Arizona. She was on the accreditation review for two museums I led and in 2022 we teamed up to lead the review of the museums if Mackinaw Island. She was a thorough professional and I learned from her all my career. Rest in peace. Your memory is a blessing.
