CAROLYN WHITE Obituary


CAROLYN SMITH WHITE  
On December 29, 2017, Carolyn Smith White passed away in Bethesda, Maryland of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Nathaniel Torrence White; two children, Miguel Torrence Velez-White (Michael) and Shyrell (wife) and Natalie White Brunelle; three grandchildren, Thomas, Yzabela and Alexandra; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Edward C. White and sister-in-law, Ethel M. White. She was preceded by her mother, Catheryn B. Smith and father, Herman L. Smith; both of Atlanta, Georgia. She was born May 1, 1934 in suburbs outside of Atlanta, Georgia. A graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and Master's Program at Trinity College, Washington, DC, she worked for nearly 30 years as an elementary school teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools system. Following her retirement, she traveled to various world continents with her husband and enjoyed a quite Christian life at home in Potomac, Maryland. Memorial services will be held January 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel's Church, 16819 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20905. (301-989-4673). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org )
