Dr. EVANS E. CRAWFORD, JR.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth P. Crawford for 69 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Surviving are a host of other relatives and friends. On Friday, March 8, 2019 a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service 12 Noon at the Cramton Auditorium, 2455 6th St., NW, Washington, DC 20059. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dr. Evans Crawford Scholarship Fund at Howard University School of Divinity, 2900 Van Ness St., NW, Washington, DC 20008 and Alzherimer's Association, 225 N. I am so sorry to learn of Rev. Crawford's passing from this life. Years ago, I was a bridesmaid in the wedding of Betty and Evans. And since he was pastor at our church, Pond Street Baptist Church in Providence, Rhode Island and Betty was both choir director and organist as well as my relative, I knew both quite well. Betty, I know you feel that the loss of this loving man will leave a giant hole in your life. Praying that God's comforting hand will sustain you.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Dean Crawford. His lovely wife had told me that he was in Manor Care in Adelphi,MD. I went on a search through the white pages only to find there was an address on Riggs Road and one on Georgia Avenue. I was unsuccessful in my search. The next thing I know, his death was announced. Dean Crawford was my professor in preaching. On any given day he could tell me what I had preached. But my greatest memory of him was that he asked me if he could participate in my ordination service. Can you imagine? I quickly said YES. He prayed my ordination prayer. I shall never forget and am eternally grateful for that. Condolences to Mrs. Crawford and thanks for sharing him with so many. May he rest in peace in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Dean Crawford left beautiful memories for everyone blessed to have known him. I'll not forget when he stopped by my mother's home during my bereavement. His inspiring words are forever edged in my mind. He was very much missed on the Howard University campus after his retirement. My sincere condolences to Mrs Crawford and the entire family. Sorry to learn about the death of our dear Dean Crawford. As a foreign student at Howard in the 1970's, I was engaged with him on few occasions about higher education in Africa. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating to students. He was loved by students. May his soul rest in peace.
