JAMES MICHAEL HAUCK  1938 - 2012
James Michael Hauck passed away at his home on Friday, December 21, 2012 in Reston, VA. He had cancer.  Jimmy was born in Minnesota but grew up in the small town of Glasco, Kansas. He joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and served for four years. He moved to Virginia in 1960. Jimmy was a construction superintendent for The CECO Corp. He worked for CECO for 37 years.  He has left behind his wife, Terrie Vaile Hauck, his two children, Vaile Kathryn Vest, (William Christopher Vest) and David Bishop Bliss, (Andrea Bliss) and three grandchildren, Sarah Vest, Vanessa Bliss and Allison Bliss. His sister, Joan Berg of Long Island and his brother, Jerome Hauck of Oregon also survive him. He has many nieces and nephews who will miss him, too.  Jimmy spent many happy summers in Chautauqua, New York. He was a member of the world's oldest book club, CLSC, and a board member of the Chautauqua Dance Circle. He was a member of The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. Every year he volunteered at The Kentucky Derby party for PRS. He was a loyal Redskins fan. He was a champion chili cook, a certified barbeque judge and an avid golfer and poker player. He will be remembered for his wonderful smile, his sparkling blue eyes and his loving, generous ways. A memorial service will be held on January 13 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to The Chautauqua Dance Circle, P.O. Last evening, we learned about Jimmy, dear Jimmy, who will forever shine in our memory. We will write but wanted to express our sorrow at the loss of the physical presence of this lovely man while this guestbook is still online. We know your strength, Terrie, will bear you up in this sad time. We are glad you had so many good years together, and have a store of comforting memories to sustain you. Our love to you, always.

Dear Terrie,

Jeannette and I feel privileged to have known Jimmie during our Chautauqua years together. He could always be counted upon to bring his radiant smile and personality, and his extraordinary good sense, to any occasion. The 36 years you spent together -- half your lives, in effect -- were ones of joy for you, and unquestionably for Jimmy. May memory of him, and your own abundant ability to bounce back from difficult situations, be with you in coming years.

Jeannette and I look forward to seeing you in June. A comfortable, relaxed dinner for three!

With much love,

Claude and Jeannette
