Jerry Michalak, 59, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2019 at his home in Dover, ending his battle with cancer with his wife and sons by his side.
Jerry was born on July 30th, 1960 in Piorunka, Poland. He and his family came to America when he was 5 years old.
He was a beloved husband and father who is survived by his wife Donna of 34 years and sons Jerry, Jr. and Justin. He is also survived by siblings Stella Gobrecht, Walter Michalak Sr., Julia Mummert, Janet Thomas, Nicholas Michalak IIl, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Connie Michalak, and sister Sophia Robbins. Jerry was a member of the Northeastern class of 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, who served our country for 6 years. He was a superintendent, employed by Warfel Construction Company of Lancaster, PA.
He was an avid outdoorsman, with many hobbies, archery hunting of which was his favorite. He upheld his integrity and was an exceptional hard worker. He also enjoyed the simple things in life, such as sitting by the log fire and Sunday cookouts with his wife and sons.
A viewing will be held 10-11am Thursday, January 2, 2020 at St. Patrick's Church 231 S. Beaver St. York. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am at the church with Rev. Keith Carroll as celebrant. Full military rites will be presented by the York Co. Veterans Honor Guard at the church following the mass. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation. 2951 Whiteford Rd # 304, York, PA 17402, (717) 757-9474.

I was so sad to see Jerry passed away. I was Jerry's nurse in Radiology. Donna, I'm so sorry for your loss! It was such a pleasure to take care of Jerry and get to know you both. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your boys.

I had the pleasure of working with Jerry on the Dickenson college job with warfel. I was his Forman on that project. I only new him for 6 months but he was an awesome super to work for. He always kept it light even under pressure, he was a great teacher of how jobs go and wish I would have had the opportunity to work with him again. My favorite memory of him was the first time I meet him he had a beard and did not look like is company photo and when I approached him and asked for Jerry he said theres no Jerry here and turned and started to walk away then turned back at me laughing, he got me from that time on we had a good time working together. I will miss him a lot and I am sorry for your families loss.

I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family. I am one of Janets employees. I only know of Jerry through Janet, & saw him at Janets pizza shop. So many great things she shared with me about Jerry. When she relayed to me of his passing I said I hoped he was celebrating with my mother, she passed December 25, 2009. I pray that the family is consoled with the peace & love of Jesus. God's Blessing to all the family !

I am so sorry to hear about his passing. I worked with Jerry at warfel and had the privilege of being his Forman at the Dickenson college job. He was a awesome super to work for. He always backed my decision I made and was a great teacher on the job. I only got to work with him for 6 month but they were fun and he always kept the mood light even when the job was tough. I will miss him and wish I would have had the opportunity to work with him before his passing.
